theAngelsforge
A growing portrait project built around presence, atmosphere, and the quiet charge of a held moment. This is a place for faces, stories, musicians, artists, workers, wanderers, and anyone with something human in the frame.
What this is
This project began as a way of building a portrait repertoire with intention rather than accident. Not just isolated photographs, but a body of work with a recognisable emotional language.
Some portraits may be made in quiet corners. Some may be made against the movement of a room, a street, a venue, a day in progress. The common thread is simple: a person, a moment, and the sense that something real has briefly agreed to stay still.
In practice
- Natural or available light where possible
- Square format and medium-format sensibility
- Simple, repeatable setups
- Portraits with character rather than polish alone
Who it’s for
Musicians. Writers. Makers. Neighbours. Performers. Quiet legends. People in transition. People with stories in their face.
Some sessions may be planned. Others may happen around live events, rehearsals, open mics, readings, or in the natural drift of things.
“I’m not chasing perfection. I’m looking for that split second where someone is entirely themselves.”
Take part
I’m currently inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to sit for a portrait, collaborate on a themed set, or be considered for future sessions as the project grows.
Sessions may be informal, low-fuss, and shaped around the person rather than a heavy production. If the work leads somewhere larger — exhibition, publication, performance tie-in, or feature — all the better.

Practical details
Participants will receive digital copies of any final images used as part of the project. A simple consent and release form will be provided and must be signed prior to taking part, covering use of the images across Angelsforge and connected platforms.
Everything is handled with respect for the individual and the spirit in which the portrait is made.
