"Camelot? On second thought... lets not go there.... tis' a silly place."
No wonder I've spent more than half my life bouncing back and forthe between various parts of the world and Britain - Predominantly London.
Like a boomarang, no matter how far I would try to throw myself in a different direction, I always ended up coming back. In the 'equasion of life' that was the constant. The only variable always seemed to by how skint I was on my return.
In those days jobs were easy enough for those who weren't picky or snobby about what they did. Most of the time I was neither about both and worked assisting photographers like Terry Wilson, Yanique Varolle and Roger O'Neil, Printing for Longs, Visions, Team Photography and Film Colour as well as freelancing from the original Angelsforge Silver Darkroom and some location work for Ridley Scott Productions for shoot where everyone had to be naked. Before you ask, no I didn't have to get my kit off (thankfully).
I wish I could say photographic work wasn't 'hand-to-mouth', but it was, I actually made my rent from waiting tables and and barwork in between jobs. Other jobs included a converted broom cupboard in Berwick street doing type-setting for a small Soho publishing firm. It was on the first floor of a building that was shared by some 'working girls' that saw me as a youngster that needed mothering. They used to bring me (much appreciated food) and take me for drinks at the Blue Posts - the pub at the end of the block
